Two new Kansas car insurance bills become law
Two new bills have been signed into law in Kansas that will make changes to the state’s auto insurance regulations. The first imposes a strict limit of the recovery rights of uninsured motorists. The second prohibits cities from levying charges against drivers and their insurers for any emergency response services required after an accident. The bills were signed into law by Governor Sam Brownback, a supporter who believes they will benefit both insurers and residents. InsuranceQuotes.com has released the results of a recent survey they conducted regarding motorists. The company surveyed some 2,366 drivers aged 18 and older from across the nation and found that 16% of them have driven without insurance coverage. Nearly half of those drivers said that they only did so because they were unable to afford insurance coverage, citing the economic hardship as one of the primary factors for them being unable to cope with premiums.
