A homeowners insurance policy bearing the rare full signature of the late Kurt Cobain is being auctioned off by Inscriptagraphs Memorabilia.
Goldin Auctions is brokering the sale of the item on behalf of the memorabilia company.
The policy’s signature is considered particularly rare as Kurt Cobain was not in the habit of signing his full name. His autograph typically consisted only of his first name. In this particular instance, he wrote his full name including his middle initial of “D”. The policy was issued by Chase Bank insurance company and it was dated 74 days before the lead singer of Nirvana was found dead in the Seattle home it covered.
Cobain had purchased the home just over two months before he left his California rehab program and went on a drug binge at the house, which resulted in the musician’s April 8, 1994 suicide by 20-gauge shotgun.
The auction lot including the Kurt Cobain signed insurance policy is expected to sell for more than $100k.
The lot includes not only the signed homeowners insurance policy, but also photographs of the way the home looked before it burned down. According to a TMZ report, Inscriptagraphs Memorabilia intends to donate a portion of the proceeds from the auction’s sale to a suicide prevention organization.
Goldin Auctions has called this particular lot “insanely rare”. This, following the sale of the record-setting item last month that occurred last month, also associated with Kurt Cobain’s possessions. In July, the Nirvana frontman set a Guinness World Record for the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction.
The record was set when the musician’s 1959 Martin D-18E was auctioned off and brought in a tremendous $6,010,000. The performer’s possessions clearly continue to be particularly highly valued as Cobain is often described as the voice of Generation X. Moreover, due to the fact that his music – and that of Nirvana – 
achieved such an extreme level of popularity at a critical time in alternative music, he is also considered to be among the most influential in the genre.
