The Virginia Business and Best Companies Group has named GEICO insurance one of the top places to work in the state, in recognition of the insurer’s efforts as one of Virginia’s leading employers.
The regional vice president of the Fredericksburg office for GEICO, John Izzo, said that the company is proud of receiving this honor and acknowledged that it is the company’s associates who propel the insurer forward. Therefore, “we make a strong effort to ensure they get as much out of their hard work for GEICO as they put in.”
There are over 25,000 associates working for the company, and nearly 5,400 of them are in the state of Virginia, with approximately 3,000 of them in Fredericksburg, and about 2,400 in Virginia Beach. With nearly 550,000 policyholders in Virginia, GEICO is the second largest auto insurance provider in the state.
Regional vice president of the Virginia Beach office at GEICO, Joe Thomas, also commented on the recognition that the company has received, saying that it is a “true testament” to the commitment that the company has for giving its workers a satisfying and supportive employment environment.
He explained that the insurer is always watching for new associates who aren’t just interested in a contribution to GEICO, but who are hoping to advance their careers within the industry through effective skills development.
The award program for the Best Places to work in Virginia is based on a survey and was created to provide recognition to the best employers in the state, who strengthen the workforce, economy, and businesses there.
