BOSTON, July 22, 2013 – According to catastrophe modeling firm AIR Worldwide, rural communities in northwest China’s Gansu province experienced a devastating earthquake on July 21 at 23:45:56 UTC (July 21, 7:45 a.m. local time). Because of its low population and agricultural economy, there is little exposure in Gansu province and insurance take-up rates are low.
