Sterling Insurance has announced that it is now offering California residents Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policies
There are currently over 4.8 million residents of the state that are eligible to receive Medicare. In California, every day means that approximately 1,000 more people will have turned 65, rapidly increasing the number of possibly eligible beneficiaries.
At the moment, only 7 percent of the Medicare-eligible population of the state is carrying a Medicare Supplement policy, which means that there is a large number of people who have health coverage, but who will also face notable out-of pocket expenses should they need to make a claim. In the case of more serious injuries or illnesses, this can become quite costly to the policyholder.
Sterling Life Insurance Company is now underwriting Medigap policies that will help to fill in the coverage holes from regular Medicare plans. The policies provide additional coverage for co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles, as well as other forms of cost-sharing. Some of the plans will also provide additional benefits above and beyond the Medicare coverage.
The Sterling Medigap coverage also allows policyholders to choose their own hospitals, doctors, and other medical providers that accept patients with Medicare, instead of limiting them to a specific provider network.
Residents of California can enroll with Sterling Insurance for the standardized Medigap plans A, F, K, and N. These Medicare Supplement plans provide a spectrum of different coverage options, ranging from basic to comprehensive. They can be purchased through a local insurance agent, phoning directly, or even online at the Sterling Insurance official website.
