Prince William and Kate Middleton’s healthy son was born in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced the birth of the youngest royal baby boy. The newborn was delivered in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital just like his brother George and sister Charlotte.

Despite the baby’s royal status, his birth likely cost less than what is charged to the average mom in the U.S.

The cost of 24 hours in a deluxe room for a non-cesarean delivery in the Lindo Wing where the royal baby boy was born costs – as of the latest data from 2015 – $8,900 (£5,670). In the United States, the average cost for a woman receiving similar maternity ward health care during her delivery would be $10,808. Depending on the care provided, that figure for the same Deluxe room or luxury room with ensuite could cost as much as $30,000 including care throughout the pregnancy.

That said, in the United Kingdom, the average cost of a normal delivery or planned cesarean section is a much lower $2,143 (£1,755). In circumstances where there are complications, that average increases to $3,153 (£2,582).

This data shows that delivery the royal baby boy was less expensive than an average U.S. birth

International Federation of Health Plans data shows that the American total average for physician care and hospital maternity care costs without complications is higher than any other country in the world. The average woman pays more for her care throughout pregnancy and delivery in the United States than the Duchess of Cambridge did in the United Kingdom.

The federation’s data showed that the second most expensive place for a delivery (average hospital and physician costs) is Switzerland, at $7,751, followed by Australia at $5,645, then Spain at $1,950 and South Africa at $1,271.

The royal baby boy was born at 11:01 a.m. on April 23, 2018. Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge was present. The infant weighed eight pounds, seven ounces and while he is titled His Royal Highness (HRH) the Prince of Cambridge, his name has not yet been announced. The delayed announcement of the baby’s name is a tradition within the British Royal Family. HRH Prince of Cambridge is fifth in line for the throne.

We’re higher because we sue for any reason at all, thus, the malpractice insurance costs are added to every aspect of care in this country.
