Pet insurance policies from Hartville sold online through Target

The insurer recently moved its headquarters to Akron, at a former Lockheed Martin facility.

Hartville Pet Insurance Group has announced that it has now formed a new partnership with Target, in order to make it possible for customers to purchase health care policies for their pets on the retail giant’s website.

The partnership has already begun, but the policies won’t become available until later this month.

Starting late this month, customers who visit the Target website will be able to access information about various pet insurance policies from Hartville and will be able to purchase coverage for their animal companions. The coverage will be underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Co. There will be several different types of policy available, including those that focus on varying levels of coverage for behavioral, alternative, and wellness therapies.

The idea behind this new partnership is to help to share a better understanding of pet insurance benefits.

pet insurance newsDennis Rushovich, the senior vice president at Hartville, read a prepared statement that said that the new partnership between the insurance company and Target “presents an exciting opportunity and serves as a new route to helping pet parents better understand the benefits of pet health insurance.” He went on to express that “The alliance is unique in our industry, and we feel certain that it will produce positive results.”

Hartville has been working to incorporate Target into its selling strategy among retail partners for some time now, said the insurance company. Back in June, the provider announced that it would be moving its headquarters from its previous location in Canton, to a new spot in Akron, where it would be bringing about 100 jobs with it. It stepped into the space that was formerly occupied by Lockheed Martin.

The company now sells pet insurance to every state in the country, as well as the Washington D.C., under the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, Petshealth Care Plan, and Hartville brands. This is an increasingly commonly purchased form of coverage, as animal health care costs skyrocket alongside massive increases in available veterinary treatments and therapies and as dogs, cats, and other critters are increasingly considered to be members of the family.
