The vehicle has just achieved an important milestone for its manufacturer and its drivers.
Ford has just been given an important boost by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which has just rated the 2013 Fusion and Fusion Hybrid the top vehicle safety rating, which is great news for both the manufacturer and the drivers who must pay for the auto insurance to cover it.
Ford has issued a press release in which it has expressed its pride in the safety achievement of the vehicle.
According to the global director of automotive safety office (ASO) at Ford, Steve Kenner, in the press release, “The Fusion and Fusion Hybrid exemplify the new face of Ford vehicles and demonstrate Ford’s commitment to safety in all its vehicles across the globe.”
The auto Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also granted the Fusion a five-star award.
In that case, the positive auto insurance news was made because the Fusion features a long list of different standard and optional safety technology onboard. These technologies are referred to as the Personal Safety System ™ by Ford. This includes a number of different types of systems which have been integrated into the Supplemental Restraint System (also often labeled in vehicles as an SRS).
The SRS involves a series of switches, sensors, and trackers, which provide the RCM (restraint control module) with data so that it is able to actively determine how the SRS system will function, including airbags and other features. Other safety systems in the vehicles included the Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Hill-Start Assist, a rear direction camera, and an Electronic Parking Brake.
Positive safety features in vehicles that bring about awards such as that from the NHTSA and the III can be very favorable news for drivers of those vehicles, who may find that – when compared to other vehicles that didn’t score as well on those well respected tests – their auto insurance premiums will not be as high. Many agents and other coverage experts often recommend to their customers that they pay attention to this type of rating while shopping for a new vehicle, not only for safety purposes but to help keep costs low.
