The Milewise program makes it possible for low-mileage drivers to pay based on their usage.
New Jersey drivers now have a new pay per mile insurance policy available from Allstate. The auto insurance company has rolled out Milewise in the state.
This insurance policy is designed to appeal to drivers who don’t go very far in their vehicles.
The Allstate Milewise pay per mile insurance policy allows drivers to reduce their coverage expenses by driving less. The less these motorists use their vehicles, and the shorter the distances they travel, the lower their auto insurance costs. This new coverage product is meant to provide low-mileage drivers with greater control over the amount they need to pay for coverage.
“A lot of my customers use public transportation as their primary way of getting around, yet they still own a car,” said Peter Arcuri, Edgewater Allstate Agency owner. “Milewise is ideal for these customers. Rather than getting a traditional insurance policy for a car that spends most of its time in their garage, Milewise customers pay based on how often they drive.”
Drivers spending under 25 miles per day may save money on the Allstate pay per mile insurance.
This could make the Allstate Milewise insurance product a popular auto insurance policy for stay-at-home parents, people who work from home, and retirees. It may also be appealing to people who rely mainly on public transportation for their daily commute.
Ginger Purgatorio, the vice president of product transformation at Allstate, explained that people with a low mileage lifestyle are most likely to appreciate this auto insurance policy. This was described in an Allstate Insurance news statement on the official company website. Purgatorio pointed out that we’re living in a time when transportation methods are undergoing continued evolution. As a result, people aren’t as heavily reliant on their personal vehicles.
Instead, people are using ridesharing, ride-hailing and public transportation to reach their destinations. As a result, they are spending fewer miles behind the wheel. Milewise and its pay per mile design, said Purgatorio, offers the chance to save money based on “these changing customer needs.”
