The award goes too…
The nominations for the 16th Annual Webby Awards for the insurers that have shown to be the best examples of insurance technology, creativity, and professional progress, and Esurance has been named among those that may take the coveted prize for Best Insurance Website.
The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) focus on acknowledging the best sites available on the World Wide Web. They are designed to recognize those websites that are driving the Web forward in unique and important ways. According to the New York Times, they are the “Internet’s highest honor.”
Beyond the nomination for the best website, Esurance also has the chance to win a Webby People’s Voice Award. This is not decided by the IADAS, but is instead the result of online voting that will continue until April 26.
According to the Webby Awards’ executive director, David-Michel Davies, “Nominees like Esurance are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet.” Davies went on to explain his statement by saying that “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year.”
The IADAS panel of judges chooses the winners for the various Webby Awards. In the case of the Best Insurance Website category, they look at the level of excellence in a site’s visual design, content, navigation and structure, functionality, interactivity, and experience as a whole.
The winners of the Webby Awards will be announced by IADAS on May 1, and they will be honored on May 21 at the 16th Annual Webby Awards ceremony. It will be held in New York City at the Hammerstein ballroom and will be streamed live so that it can be watched online at www.webbyawards.com.
This is the third time that Esurance has been nominated for a Webby award.
Previous nominations were in 2007 and 2008. Esurance has also been honored by a number of other organizations. Most recently, it won an Earnie Award from PR Newswire in the category of the Best Connection to Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook Audience category for the creative insurance technology social media campaign that it created in support of the Trevor Project.
