Security First and Esurance to offer Florida homeowners insurance

Insurance Industry NewsSecurity First Insurance Co. has partnered with Esurance and will be underwriting so that they may offer insurance to Florida homeowners.

This announcement comes close on the heels of the purchase of Esurance, an online auto insurance company, as well as its associated site, Answer Financial, by Allstate Insurance. The April purchase was worth $1 billion. Esurance offers the third highest number of quotes for car insurance through its 24/7 call center and its website. It sells car insurance policies in thirty states.

According to Esurance – which is recognized for its sizeable marketing campaigns – it has seen a tremendous amount of growth over the last half decade, as it has increased to twice the number of policies during that time, and its premiums have increased by an average of 20 percent every year.

It has now expanded its personal insurance coverage types, including the homeowners insurance in Florida, which has been made possible through its partnership with Security First.

On the other hand, Security First has been offering homeowners insurance in that state since 2005. Its latest statistics indicate that they have more than 115,000 policyholders in Florida alone.

When Allstate purchased Esurance, it declared that it intended to open offices for almost fifty new agencies in Florida, half of which would be occurring in the northern part of the state.

Esurance has announced that it will be providing homeowners with not only the standard policy which covers damage resulting from smoke, wind, lightning, hail, theft, and vandalism, but that there would also be a coverage for possessions off-premises, medical payments, personal liability, replacement costs, plumbing mishaps, and identity theft.
