The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has now released its latest Top Safety Picks, making insurance news as many insurers and consumers pay attention to these statistics in order to make choices regarding the premiums that will be paid.
Among those top picks from the IIHS, were the 2014 Fiat 500L, and the 2014 Jeep Cherokee.
As these two insurance news making models are both from the Chrysler Group, that auto manufacturer is certain to be celebrating. This latest round of IIHS testing has been great news for that company as both of those models scored highest in their categories, which is certain to have consumers looking in their direction for both safety and for premiums savings.
The insurance news report on the testing showed that both of the models revealed top “good” scores.
Among the four IIHS tests that are included in this insurance news, these two models received top level scores of “good”, including in the front moderate overlap, rear, side impact, and rollover crash evaluations.
This is because both of these models include a number of advanced airbag systems, such as the multistage airbags, which use the severity of the impact to dictate their inflation. They also provide side-curtain airbags that keep passengers protected from colliding with one another in the event of a crash. The driver also has added knee protection from airbags designed for the lower body.
The insurance news also revealed that both of those vehicles also have high strength steel structures in order to help to keep occupants safer and to minimize the risk of having the vehicle crushed in an accident.
These two small sized SUVs are only the latest in a number of different vehicles from the Chrysler Group that have been celebrating similar Top Safety Pick insurance news. The IIHS has previously given the award to cars and mini vans from the manufacturer, including the 2013 Fiat 500, and the 2013 Chrysler Dodge Charger, Town & Country, 300, Grand Caravan, Journey, as well as the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safety, Durango, and Jeep Patriot.
