Top names are helping in the promotion of the exchanges and signing up for coverage.
Some of the most popular celebrities in the country, including the Sexiest Man Alive, have been enlisted in the insurance marketing strategy for boosting the interest and participation in enrollment in the healthcare reform law.
Pop singer, Adam Levine, is one of the huge names that are helping to promote the online marketplaces.
Levine, who received the designation of Sexiest Man Alive from People magazine in November, is only one of many celebrities taking part in this extensive insurance marketing effort. It is centered around a social media campaign that is geared toward young adults in order to encourage them to enroll in the health insurance exchange. Following a flubbed startup of the federal exchange, which is used by over half of the states, the hope is that this promotion will help to make up for lost time.
This insurance marketing strategy is aimed at encouraging more Americans to enroll before the deadline.
The current enrollment totals are notably behind where the administration had predicted that they would be following the bungled launch of the federal exchange. Now, 17 state exchanges have come together with an advocacy group in order to use the influence of some of the allies of the Obama administration in the areas of entertainment and sports, to help to boost sign ups in the new healthcare reforms. These efforts will be concentrated on social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
This tactic was seen to be highly effective when it was used in the 2012 re-election campaign by President Obama, and now organizers of the exchange are hoping that the celebrity promotions will appeal to Americans once again to encourage individuals to enroll and to share the message with their friends.
The goal of this insurance marketing effort is to help to bring the number of internet contacts up to 100 million before the closure of the open enrollment on March 31, 2014. Already participating include names such as Fran Drescher, Kal Penn, and the NBA’s MVP, Lisa Leslie. More names are set to be revealed as time progresses.
