The insurer issued a news release welcoming DeBiase to her new position in the corporation.
The Allstate Corporation has announced that Christine (Chris) DeBiase will be joining the insurance company just after the start of the new year as its new Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
DeBiase will be taking this position with the Allstate Corporation as of January 3, 2023.
DeBiase will be taking the head of Law and Regulation as well as the insurance company’s sustainability strategy. She is an outsider from the insurer itself, but is hardly new to the industry as a whole. In fact, DeBiase has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and in legal.
She will be joining the Allstate Corporation from having worked for Brighthouse Financial Inc. There, her position was Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. Her responsibilities included legal, compliance, corporate governance and sustainability initiatives.
The insurance company expressed its welcome and high expectations for DeBiase in this position.
“Chris is a great addition to our leadership team as we transform Allstate into a digital protection solutions company and advance our sustainability strategy,” said Allstate Corporation Chair, President and CEO Tom Wilson as quoted in a recent news release from the insurance company about the new hire. “She has deep insurance and regulatory experience combined with a forward-thinking and collaborative leadership approach. She is a champion for inclusion, creating opportunities for people to share diverse perspectives and advancing equity.”
Before joining Allstate, DeBiase had been with Brighthouse since 2017. She joined that company after having worked for MetLife for 20 years. While there, she had been holding the position as lead attorney for MetLife’s Brighthouse spinoff as Senior Vice President, General Counsel of Americas Legal.
While working for MetLife, DeBiase held the positions of Vice President, Head of Regulatory Affairs and Associate General Counsel and Vice President, Corporate Secretary. She was educated at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School where she earned a Juris Doctor, after having attended State University of New York at New Paltz, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in communications.
