The lead official from the Department of Health and Human Services spoke about the website “debacle”.
The top health official under President Barack Obama, Kathleen Sebelius, has now released an official apology for what has been a “debacle” of a rollout of the federal government’s website that was designed to be a part of the heart of the healthcare reforms.
Sebelius, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, testified that while she admits that the rollout of the website went very wrong, she also blames insurance companies for having cancelled the coverage for hundreds of thousands of Americans, which had nothing to do with the actions of her own department, nor the errors occurring on the official federal website.
This news from the healthcare reforms occurred in her testimony at a congressional hearing.
This healthcare reforms congressional hearing was held on the subject of the troubled website which is at the very core of the overhaul of the system by Obama. At the same time, Sebelius promised that she would earn back the confidence of the millions of Americans who have been disappointed by the system, so far.
As she spoke, Sebelius said “Hold me accountable for the debacle. I’m responsible,” in response to questions that she had received from the Tennessee U.S. Representative, Marsha Blackburn, who asked about who should be considered responsible for all of the errors and other issues that have been stopping Americans from being able to use the website for the healthcare reforms to sign up for their required health insurance plans.
Since the very first day that the website for the healthcare reforms had officially launched, back on October 1, it has been swimming with glitches and other technical problems. This has made it difficult, or downright impossible, for Americans to be able to shop for and purchase their health insurance so that they would be able to comply with the individual mandate element of the law. Critics of the changes to the law have taken this as an ideal opportunity to reiterate their opinions against the wisdom of Obamacare.
