Clerity Solutions, a provider of mainframe modernization, migration, and optimization services, has announced that it was selected by 21st Century Insurance – a part of the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies – in order to update and migrate its legacy mainframe application which operated for many years on a mainframe.
Clerity was chosen when it was the only service provider that showed that it was capable of offering a complete rehost of the full legacy system, which included the programs for CA Easytrieve Plus.
Through the use of the UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software, the company’s team for mainframe migration was able to successfully provide an end-to-end solution that involved the application of source code, project planning and management, assessments of operations, in addition to the data rehosting and application.
Moreover, Clerity was capable of completing the service within 21st Century Insurance’s budget and it met the project’s deadlines. This allowed it to meet the insurer’s goals for reducing costs, maintaining the productivity of developers, ensuring that existing business logic was protected, and decommissioning the final mainframe structure that remained in place.
According to the CIO of 21st Century Insurance, Tony Cacchione, the insurer is now capable of providing the equivalent functionality but at a notably decreased cost. He added that by putting rehosting into place, the organization was better able to make its way into an open systems environment with greater flexibility. Furthermore it bettered the productivity of the application support team.
Cacchione praised Clerity as a partner and applauded their ability to perform the task within the limitations that had been prescribed.
