The cars, SUVs, vans, and trucks that can lead to the cheapest policies have now been revealed.
While everybody wants to drive a fantastic car with the greatest, flashiest, and most useful features and options, it cannot be forgotten that the choice of make and model will have a considerable impact on the auto insurance premiums that will be paid to cover it.
Approximately 30 percent of all policyholders will comparison shop to try to discover cheaper premiums.
This figure was according to the data from TransUnion’s insurance business department. As it is clear that finding the best possible deal is a common practice for auto insurance customers, they may also be interested in looking into the right vehicle choice, in the first place, to keep their costs to a minimum. Naturally, the cost of coverage can’t be the only decision when buying a new car, SUV, van, or truck, but it could be a serious consideration.
According to recent data, when it comes to 2014 vehicle models, some have notably cheaper auto insurance premiums.
The list released by Insure.com showed that the ten vehicles that were the cheapest to insure include the following:
10 – Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (with an average $1,171 premium from that comparison site)
9 – Ford Escape S (with an average $1,170 premium)
8 – Dodge Journey SE (with an average $1,149 premium)
7 – Subaru Outback 2.5i (with an average $1,144 premium)
6 – Chrysler Town & Country / Dodge Grand Caravan (with average premiums of $1,140/$1,158)
5 – Jeep Compass Sport (with an average $1,140 premium)
4 – Honda CR-V LX (with an average $1,115 premium)
3 – Jeep Patriot Sport (with an average $1,104 premium)
2 – Honda Odyssey LX (with an average $1,103 premium)
1 – Jeep Wrangler Sport (with an average $1,080 premium)
It is clear that among several of those vehicles, particularly those that are have the lowest average auto insurance premiums, there isn’t a dramatic difference from one to the next. But even among the top ten vehicles there is a notable enough difference from the top of the list to the bottom that worthwhile savings can be found simply through the careful selection of what is being covered.
